My Photo of One of Our Ladies
circa 2013
Even though there is no real updated information at this time, I just wanted to recognize this Day for Our Lady Bison. They make me smile when I see them, every day I'm out of the house. Their home, makes me frown.
The past month I've been trying to wrap-up the posts I have in draft, that I feel are most necessary to my mismanagement documentation goals. While the Bison Sprinkler issue is not a Zoo mismanagement issue, it is a RecPark negligence issue, which fails into the same realm. It also continues the example of RecPark negligence that played a major part in the previously documented Coyote event.
For those just tuning in, it is the responsibility of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department to maintain the Bison Paddock enclosure, while the Zoo Animal Staff care for the Bison. The RecPark has been negligent in their responsibility by withholding hydration to the Paddock, either when the Sprinklers have been broken or when they have not turned them on. During non-rain days the Bison Meadow is dried out and void of vegetation. Bison are grazing Animals, and the lack of healthy green vegetation, denies them of their natural behavior.
For more details see my previous post from September 30, that also includes recent videos.
A couple weeks ago, I received all the Maintenance Documents for the Bison Paddock, but with other projects it's one of the things I haven't fully investigated. The Bison and the Zoo's Orangutans are the two issues I will never give up on. These Animals deserve better. They deserve to have homes that allow them to experience their natural behaviors.

I used to use (search) labels, but too often forget. I started noting "Hot Topic" in title, but fell lax on that. Now I'm just going to add labels, keywords, etc., here at the bottom with hashtags. Does it help in searches, who knows.
