After my last post, I started reading comments to the News Story, posted on Twitter and YouTube. I probably shouldn't read comments, especially on those two forums, but I do. That was the catalyst for this third post, but not the only reason.
For the most part people seem to get the main issue of this whole situation, which as I've previously said, was the Murder of an innocent four month old Pup. As well, the lies put forth to media, to create the narrative that they wanted to give the public.
The first comment on Twitter was a guy who started by calling me Ma'am lol! He went on to try and school me that they (Coyotes) aren't like Dogs. Idiots (plural, as there was another brainiac that said the same), they are related to Dogs.
For those who may not have watched the News Story, in part of my interview I likened the murdered Coyote Pup, to that of a Domestic Puppy of the same age. I was obviously referring to appearance, not behavior, although there are Domestic Dogs that attack and hunt as well. I have seen off-leash Dogs go after Waterfowl, and one specifically attacked a Duck at Stow Lake, leaving it with a quarter size hole in its neck. As well, someone I knew as a kid had St Bernard's on their ranch, who broke free of night chains to kill the neighbors Sheep.
Make NO mistake, Killing an innocent Coyote Pup, is visually, and possibly behaviorally, exactly like killing a Domestic Dog Puppy.
I also want to add another Document from those I had requested. If you've read my previous post, you have seen the others I posted. One showed the correspondence between officials that noted, the Pup was euthanized (murdered) because it wouldn't be able to survive without Parents, who shooters sought to kill. Additional correspondence after the second night of the USDA Killing Spree, showed dialog about disturbing the Dens, looking for the Female (the Mama) who they shot but couldn't find. Note: She got away and survived.
From all the facts in these Documents, it seems an obvious assumption that, when they did disturb the Dens, if they had found additional Pups, they too would have been murdered.
It makes me sick. ... Thankfully, the Mother and either the Father or another surviving yearling, must have returned and in between the horror, moved the other Pups.
This whole event was mishandled, and it's no surprise that RecPark General Manager Phil Ginsburg and Spokesperson Tamara Aparton would not agree to be interviewed. I think the biggest reason they declined is because they (none of the Officials) don't feel they have to answer to anyone for anything. Unfortunately, in this case, they will never take responsibility for anything.
One of the problems the RecPark has, that was a main issue in this event, was lack of awareness and neglegent action by their department. They dropped the ball on posting Den Site signage and using other awareness outreach. Additionally, from my experience, the RecPark doesn't want to hear any opinions, or suggestions by members of the public. Even when some members of the public, may know more than they do, because it's a passion of theirs to learn everything about a subject, not just a job they collect a paycheck from.
I'm speaking from my experience dealing with the RecPark Dept. in regards to the Bison and abandoned Domestic Ducks. I even had one guy who works in the office that handles Wildlife, not know the difference between Domestic and Wild Ducks. That's fine I guess, but don't argue the points someone who does know, makes.
When I started researching the Botanical Garden Coyote event, I found Janet Kessler who was interviewed in the News Story. She knows Coyotes, like I know the Zoo. She is completely invested in knowing everything she can. As a member of the public, her knowledge and offering of help is viewed as a nuisance, to the point where they ridicule her and anyone who supports her. She gave them suggestions on Den Site signage prior to this event. As well, as soon as the biting incident happened, she offered her knowledge about the Family and Coyote Family dynamics, specifically about raising young. They ignored her advice. Had they listened to her, not only might this biting incident not have happened, but that Pup might still be alive. If they took the time to educate themselves, either by advice offered, or on their own, which should be a job requirement, things might have played out different. Den Site signage, awareness and area guidelines could have prevented the biting, and knowledge of Coyote Family dynamics in raising young, might not have had the shooters so trigger happy. Although it did seem their agenda was to shoot any Coyote they saw.
An unforgivable, and unconscionable action, from all angles.

I used to use (search) labels, but too often forget. I started noting "Hot Topic" in title, but fell lax on that. Now I'm just going to add labels, keywords, etc., here at the bottom with hashtags. Does it help in searches, who knows.
