Well, we have finally arrived at the day we have all been waiting seventeen years for. Our Zoo will be Free of Tanya Peterson as Zoo Director!
A few days ago I posted a Countdown to July 31st, but apparently we have this one day left. Reports of Tanya's Retirement listed August 1st, which I think I interpreted that as July 31st would be her last day. End of month, seemed logical. Logic has never been a part of anything Tanya has done, so I shouldn't have assumed. Maybe it was just the excitement that threw off my count. None of it matters. By the end of today, Our Zoo will be rid of her.
I've heard from many people in response to some of my posts about Director Tanya Peterson's Resignation. Almost everyone has echoed on their own, the same phrase that first came to my mind, "Good Riddance"!
Some might think that is harsh. It's not. It's no secret that I am not a fan of Tanya's. She's done some really shitty things to me, and even more to Our Animals, that by my standards makes her a really shitty person.
To Tanya,
Your Retirement is a decade plus overdue. You should have been gone so many torturous years ago. The majority of Zoo Staff will be celebrating and raising a toast to your departure.
Your Forced Resignation is Justice for all Our Animals, innocents that you disrespected and treated badly.
This is for...
...and All The Others who I may not have known about, and those I just suspect, or that my mind has fogged over the memory of, your inflicted cruelty to.

I used to use (search) labels, but too often forget. I started noting "Hot Topic" in title, but fell lax on that. Now I'm just going to add labels, keywords, etc., here at the bottom with hashtags. Does it help in searches, who knows.
Good riddance! Hopefully some new, empathetic and fresh air will wash over our beloved zoo.
ReplyDeleteFor the animals…
@Anonymous ... Thank you for your comment. Indeed Our Zoo needs all those things! Let the healing begin!
DeleteThis is the best news I've heard in a very long time. Finally Tanya's last day. All she did was collect a paycheck and bully employees. And...kept the animals in substandard enclosures. She was blind to creative suggestions. Good riddance
ReplyDelete@Anonymous ... Thank you for your comment. Yes! Thank you for using the word "bully", I have not in a very long time, but it is a true description of how Tanya treated people. As well, she never considered other people's suggestions of value. Hoping that changes!
DeleteSo happy for our animals and our amazing zoo!! Hoping for more compassionate leadership that listens to the folks on the ground about what is best for animal care.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous ... Thank you for your comment. Yes! Listening to Animal Care Staff is the most important factor for new management to embrace. Let's hope it happens!
DeleteBye, Tanya! We won’t miss you!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous ... Thank you for your comment. I don't think anyone will!
DeleteI really hope that she is replaced with someone with compassion and a higher respect for the animals and the employees at the zoo. Thank you for keeping us in the loop with the goings on at the zoo which I have to say I have not been keeping up-to-date with. But that Zoo is a jewel, and it needs to be treated as such as as well as all the employees and all the animals taken care of in the highest Level. Thank you again.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous ... Thank you for your comment. Yes, to all you said. Our Zoo is a Jewel, and if it is not cherished and nurtured this time around, I fear it won't make it to it's 100th Anniversary in 2029.
DeleteThe zoo will be better off without Tanya.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous ... Thank you for your comment. Our Zoo and everyone who cares about it will.
DeleteSitting here smiling knowing Tanya has "left the building". I pray now that the new Director has vision, loves animals and is open to ideas from the visitors and the keepers. Let proper donations come in and not Tanya's cocktail events. Please also remember to sage her office. Let's head in the right direction now.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous - Thank you for your comment. ... Haha, Sage! Yea can't lie it's pretty satisfying knowing after all her efforts to try and keep me out of the Zoo, I'm still here and she isn't! ... Keep those prayers going, Our Zoo needs all those things! I'm hoping there will be visible changes immediately, as I believe there are small things that can be done out of the gate, that will make a difference in the perception of Our Zoo and in staff morale. I'll be keeping an eye on things and hope to have some turn around news soon.
DeleteWay overdue! I’m hate that she’s still involved with the board, but I’m glad she’s not in charge anymore!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous - Thank you for your comment. ... Indeed the wait for Peterson's exit was an embarrassing amount of time. The Board, and City Officials did a great disservice to Our Zoo by turning a blind eye for seventeen years. ... Myself and others on Staff have also wondered about Peterson's status within the Zoological Society. I heard she would not be involved, but the question still persists, as you have also heard such. I will try to confirm whether Peterson is still active on the Board or in any capacity within the Zoological Society. Considering she was allegedly basically fired by the Mayor, probably given the opportunity to save face and resign, it would be outrageous for her to have any say in anything that goes on there. I don't think she should even be allowed on grounds, but that's just me.
DeleteBye Tanya. You were the worst.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous - Thank you for your comment. ... It's The Plain Simple Truth!
