I noted in my previous post that it's a well-circulated rumor among Zoo Staff that Director Tanya Peterson had allegedly been planning to retire this Fall, but decided to stay until the arrival of Pandas.
In my opinion, this is just a selfish need to achieve something current Mayor London Breed couldn't, only to stroke her own ego.
Tanya Peterson knows no one wants her there. It's curious that she would want to stay working in a place, knowing near 100% of her staff dislike her, not only for mismanaging Our Zoo in every way, a place so many care about, but for her lack of compassion for the Animals who live there.
A top failure in her playbook, is her lack of fundraising, which has brought Our Zoo to a financially desperate postition. While Director Peterson cries poor for Animal Needs, she and her top staff drain the Zoo of over a million dollars in wages and bonuses. Peterson alone pulls in near $400,000 and allegedly works less than part-time. She can't even be bothered to attend the monthly Joint Zoo Committee Meeting, which typically lasts an average of a half hour, eleven times a year, and was by telecommunication for over two years during height of Covid.
Tanya Peterson has not shown in anyway that she wants this job, or for that matter even has the capability to execute it responsibly, logically, or with any moral compass. The Zoological Society may have chosen to retain her, even after a vote of No Confidence by Staff and her mismanagement scandals that have kept Our Zoo in national news for most of the year. The Society Board's lack of care drives them to make no change, because that might create demands on them to actually perform their responsibility duties to the Zoo, something their long-standing neglect has proven that they don't really want. No one in the Society or on it's Board gives a crap about the Zoo, beyond writing a check to ReName an Animal that already has a name, and coming to a cocktail party.
Many years ago, I used to visit the Zoo with a friend, who was also a Docent. She was not fooled either. Often when we'd arrive, so would the Brinks trunk. She'd say, "Look, they're bringing Tanya's paycheck".
It's clear to many, for Peterson, this is easy money. Money that in my opinion should be spent on someone who actually cares about Our Zoo and wants to make it the best it can be. Not just take from it.
So yeah, easy money. Why would she leave, when she's getting paid for doing and caring as little as possible?

I used to use (search) labels, but too often forget. I started noting "Hot Topic" in title, but fell lax on that. Now I'm just going to add labels, keywords, etc., here at the bottom with hashtags. Does it help in searches, who knows.
