Friday March 16, 2012 - Zoo-ing in the Rain pt one

Rainy Days.  Its been two weeks since I went to the Zoo, I just couldn't after all the recent passings of Zoo friends.  I woke up today after having a dream with my Goobie (Bairds Tapir) and Miss Elly (Rhino) and knew today was the day, even though it was raining.  I have missed seeing Goob and knew he wouldn't be out in the rain but wanted to check on him.  I also had made some St Patty's Day items (some for a few Keepers) that I wanted to deliver before the actual day.  They were intended to be pins, but with the rain I decided to make them magnets.  I think they turned out cute!  Of course they would, Mr Seamus on a Shamrock, come on!  :)

A sad week (and month) of Zoo Friend losses.  Very sad.  I was at the Zoo today and Orkney was off exhibit, his pool drained and the Vets were there.  It didn't look good.  Later that night I read that he had passed.  Too many losses of precious Zoo Friends.

Hadn't gone into Lemur's for awhile, 

but I saw Gidro in a good spot

Just four days later we have now lost another precious friend....

I made a Memorial video for each friend.

For some time I have wanted to use my many photos of my precious Zoo Friends to make each one a video montage.  As of yesterday, I have lost four Zoo friends in 5 weeks.  Its heartbreaking.  As I look for photos I shed many tears.  I didn't think I'd be making Memorial videos, but when I saw some news photo's of Gene (Black Rhino) and they weren't even him, I needed to.  Here's my tribute to these amazing beings.

Monday is actually International Polar Bear Day, but today my friend Lee and I wore cute pins to celebrate our Polar friends, Ulu and Pike and our Andean Bear friend Wishbone!
