Current Zoo Vibe & Curiousness Why Some Don't Get Why Director Had To Go

There has been an obvious change in the general vibe at the Zoo since Tanya Peterson announced her resignation as Director, almost two weeks ago.  The optimism for a better future seems to be high.  I hope the Zoological Society Board and City Officials, Do Not Let Our Zoo down moving forward.

Many of course are asking the question regarding her resignation, Why is she waiting a month?  Resignations are traditionally immediate or up to two weeks.   There's also the fear that she will pull something.  I said to many, "I don't trust her not to do something sinister".   I was told that I'm not alone in that thought.   Many are wondering, Is she plotting something within the Zoo?   We are all hoping she has respect for Our Zoo and self-respect, and her departure comes and goes smoothly.  Guess we will all see what happens in eighteen days.

So, a couple people last week, said curious things to me.  A Member said they didn't understand Why the Director Needed to go, and a Zoo Volunteer said they never had a problem with her.  I want to be delicate with my words, because I know and like both these people, but this is hard for me to understand.  Both these people have surely been following the news, as well on occasion have listened to me rant, or read my blog posts.  The head-shaker for me is, above everything that's been reported, or said, both know what Tanya Peterson did to Our Orangutans.

I can't remember how long the Member has been around, but the Volunteer was around when Tanya kept the Orangutans in the Caged Tubes of the Skytrail for eight months straight, and for the better part of two years total.  Regardless of whether anyone has had a problem with her, EVERYONE should have a problem with this!

In my opinion the Cruelty of this Offense alone, should have been enough to get her Fired.

Why didn't it?  It's plain and simple, the Zoological Society Board and SF Recreation and Park Department, both neglected their responsibility of Management and Oversight respectively, to Our Zoo.

Keeping those Poor Souls in those Caged Tubes was without a doubt, a severe Animal Welfare issue, that has caused them lasting damage.

Not only did Tanya keep the Orangutans in Cages, she made a Social Distancing joke about it.  No compassion.  No care.  She got a smile and had a laugh.  Only a despicable person would do something like that.

I will never forget their faces, day in and day out, pressed against the tube mesh, watching the Chimpanzees in their spacious yard.  I will never forget this disgusting Twitter post by Tanya Peterson.  The worst person to ever be Director of Our Zoo.

This is what she deserves.

  1. The volunteer seems to be selective on what they want to hear or information must go in one ear and out the other.

Anyone paying attention (news articles and your blog) knows how bad Tanya Peterson is for the zoo.
