Orangutan/Panda Outrage Will Continue Indefinitely

Here I am again, the last day of my block of IN days, pushing myself to publish at least some of my thoughts.  After two days of peace, I'm attempting to reduce drafts by sorting so many words from my notes, into posts that flow.

I wanted this next post to be an update on non-Zoo grounds issues I've posted about in recent times, so I can be done with those.  But, as I lay here, ready for a nap before the Oscars, my thoughts are only about Our Orangutans, and how the Panda Plan relates to the complete disrespect, lack of care, and frankly the middle finger Director Tanya Peterson has shown them since the first day they got here, six years ago.  The horror and sadness is something that I have never been able to shake, and every time I hear about Pandas, my blood boils.

So, I will publish the following now, and again after that update post, as in this moment, the Orangutan/Panda Outrage is all I think I might want to post about for the foreseeable future.

Months ago I wrote that I wanted to wean myself from blogging, from not reacting to everything.  I feel like I'm able to do that for the most part, because while it may not seem like it, I am focused on one thing.

The last three paragraphs in my previous post, sum it up...

> And here we now are, almost six years after the Orangutans arrival.  Not one thing has been done for them.  They continue to languish on two cluttered concrete islands, and still spend most of their time in the caged tubes, looking down at the Chimpanzees in their spacious netted yard.  No fundraising was ever done for them.  Not before or since their arrival.  YET, Director Peterson has now gone into overdrive to raise funds for Pandas.  AND her Panda Plan includes displacing the Lions from the Lion House (one of the cornerstone structures since the Zoo's opening over ninety years ago),  AND building a new Lion enclosure.  WHILE the Orangutans sit and wait.  Unfortunately, under Tanya Peterson's Direction, they will wait forever.

It's been very clear to those really watching, that Director Tanya Peterson, does not care about or respect the non-Human Beings that call Our Zoo home.  And, it is certainly apparent that she cares the least for Our Great Apes.

The Panda Plan needs to Stop.  Funding needs to materialize for the Orangutans.  They need a new home built, Not Lions.  And certainly not Pandas. <

From the first moment I saw the Orangutans contained in the caged tubes of the skytrails,  my soul wept for them.  I have witnessed the evilness of Director Tanya Peterson too many times.  Her lack of empathy and compassion, outrages me.  It is outrageous that after all she has done to Our Zoo and our innocent Animal Residents, that she is allowed to continue as Director.

I could go on and on, and I will, but for the purpose of this post I will leave it with this for now.  Next month it will have been six years since the Orangutans arrived.  Six years that I have shed tears for Ollie and Amoi (Orangutans) and the damage Tanya Peterson has caused them.  I will continue to be a voice for them in this blog, until they get a new home built for them.

This shameful example of Tanya Peterson's lack of care, came up in conversation this past week. I'll leave you with this f**ked-up post by Peterson, who is making a social distancing joke, about Our Orangutans, who she kept in these caged tubes for eight months straight.

There is nothing " norm" about not providing
a designated home for Beings in your care.

Do not ever forget this.  The face of Tanya Peterson laughing behind her mask, or the faces of Amoi and Ollie, who were stuck in caged tubes for the majority of two years.

The above was originally published in a post from December 31, 2020.  It's worth a read, as it also contains the disgrace of Peterson using Lemur Maki's kidnapping to ask for donations for the Madagascar Debacle, under the guise of it being for Maki's new home.  A complete untruth.

The woman is unconscionable.

I used to use (search) labels, but too often forget.  I started noting "Hot Topic" in title, but fell lax on that.  Now I'm just going to add labels, keywords, etc., here at the bottom with hashtags.  Does it help in searches, who knows.

  1. ‘The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated. I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man.”
A quote never found in a speech by Gandhi, but the quote, no matter from whence it came, speaks to the way I view the world.
Substitute ‘nation’ for zoo, and ‘the cruelty of man’ with ‘the neglect by Ms. Peterson,’ and you have a summation of the SF Zoo of late.
What more can one say about this woman? At what point will the city officials, city purse-keepers and a tax-paying public begin to demand change?
The orangutans and other animals don’t have a voice. Thank you for being a voice for them.
What a dream it would be to get people to hear!!!
